Aim of this paper is to recommend a methodology for the proper assessment of the risk associated with the operation of hazardous industrial plants, largely distributed all around the world, with emphasis on the potential earthquake effects. In questo lavoro viene proposta una metodologia per la valutazione del rischio associato al funzionamento di impianti a rischio di incidente rilevante, diffusi in tutto il mondo, con particolare enfasi agli effetti di potenziali terremoti. E' opinione degli Autori che tale tipo di rischio sia poco conosciuto dalla società. Come caso di studio è stata scelta l'area industriale di Augusta-Priolo Gargallo
